Dutch people love bikes – ww w/linky
The first thing you will realize if you come to The Netherlands is that Dutch people love bikes. No matters the age, I’ve seen 80 year old ladies biking. When we went to Terschelling Liam was just 4 weeks old and the we rented bikes to go around the island. Paul got a “bakfiets” so he could put Liam inside, and my sister and I rented a electric tandem so I didn’t have to actually bike 😛
I love the bakfiets, you can carry a baby in a maxicosi or later up to four children. We’ll definitely get one!
If you think we were crazy putting a maxicosi/baby in a bike, you should visit a dutch ikea, i’ve seen people carrying their furniture in the bike, even a wash machine!! Watch this video!!
What is the weird thing you have seen on a bike? where?

That is such a cool looking bike. Looks quite practical, too!

Yes, it’s very practical. You can carry anything and the plastic tent can be removed too.

We were not in the Netherlands long as Haarlem was a port on a cruise ship and we were so late, we only got about an hour at port. It was the bicycles that really struck me. Like you said, they were every where, ridden by everyone. I like the bicycle with the place for the baby.
