First thing to do in San Francisco
Después de un viaje de 16 horas y habiendo pasado 11 en avión, llegas a medio día a San Francisco (las diez de la noche en Europa). Qué es Lo primero qué harías después de recoger el coche de alquiler? Seguramente ir al hotel a ducharte o echarte una siesta, verdad? Pues yo Lo qué hice fue irme al Golden Gate y OS puedo asegurar que se me pasó un par de veces por la cabeza dar media vuelta e ir a casa de mis amigos. Ayer era el black friday y la ciudad estaba hasta los topes, el navegador insistió durante una hora en que me quedaban 14 minutos para llegar. Sí, para un trayecto de unos 20 minutos tardé más de hora y media. Ahí no quedó la cosa, porque parece qué todo turista había decidido ir al Golden Gate bridge y no había forma de aparcar.
After traveling for 16 hours and having spent 11 in a plane, you arrive at noon at San Francisco (ten at night in Europe). What is the first thing you would do after picking up the rental car? Probably you would go to the hotel to shower or take a nap, right? Well, what I did was to go to the Golden Gate and I can assure you that a couple of times I was about to turn around and go to my friends’ place. Yesterday was Black Friday and the town was packed, the GPS insisted over and over that I was 14 minutes away from my destination. Yes, for a journey of about 20 minutes it took me over an hour and a half. That was not all!! It seemed that every tourist had decided to go to the Golden Gate bridge and there was no way to park.

La verdad es qué si no hubiera habido tanto tráfico, hubiera ido al centro y al pier a sacar fotos de las focas, pero eran ya casi las 4p.m. (1a.m. CET) y todavía tenía qué conducir dos horas hasta la casa de Melissa. Aquí ahora anochece sobre las 5 y yo sé que mientras hay luz no tengo problema, pero en cuanto anochece iba a estar cansada.
To be honest if there had not been so much traffic, I had gone downtown and to the pier to take pictures of the seals, but it was almost 4 p.m. (1 a.m. CET) and I still had to drive two hours to Melissa and Nico’s house. Here it gets dark around 5 and I know that while I have sun I have no problem, but as soon as it’s dark I was going to be tired.
Al final no hice ninguna foto del peazo de pavo que habían preparado Melissa y Nico, que no veas que curro lleva: entre asarlo tres horas y media echándole salsa a cada poco, y preparar todos los acompañantes…. Tuvimos una cena típica de acción de gracias rica, rica!
I didn’t take any pictures of the turkey prepared by Melissa and Nica, it was superb and a lot of work: three hours grilling pouring sauce every bit, preparing all the side dishes…. We had a typical Thanksgiving dinner, rica, rica!
