5 ways to get free holidays
Have you ever wish to go to Slovenia, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France or Italy? Ever wish to go on holidays for free? There’re several ways to get a trip for free. Here are the ways to get free holidays with links to now open opportunities.
1 -Taking pictures for a company
I see more often in facebook and internet companies looking for photographers to join a trip and take pictures while on the road. The photographer (amateur or professional) gets a free holiday and the company gets the pictures with all rights. Maybe it’s not so profitable for a professional photographer, but for an amateur could be a good option.
In the past, Camper Verhuur Amsterdam offered a two weeks campervan trip . You could choose to take the campervan either to North Europe (Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway) or South Europe (Belgium, France, Italy and Austria). The company paid the rental of the campervan as well as up to 500€ of diesel.
2 – Being a model for a company
If you aren’t a photographer but don’t mind to be on the other side of the camera, you can apply to be a model for a holiday company. Normally they will pay the travel expenses and the accommodation, and in return, you will have to spend a number of hours posing for pictures. You can check Lukkien Casting’s facebook as they are looking for families, couples and young people to join their photoshoot in Italy.
3 – Being an ambassador of a destination
Do you love the outdoors and/or cycling? You can apply to be a Cycling Ambassador of Slovenia or keep an eye on Vakantieland Duitsland’s facebook as they look frequently hiking ambassadors.
4 – Relocating a car or campervan
Relocating a car or campervan is very popular in Australia and New Zealand, but you can also find some opportunities in USA, Canada and Europe. I normally check Imoova’s website. For Europe, there isn’t so much, but you can regularly book a relocation from Italy or Spain to The Netherlands or UK.
5 – Win a travel contest
There’re so many travel contests. For some contests, the winner is just randomly picked, but for others, you need to submit a picture or a do something. I have to admit that I love the second ones and that I have already won a couple of contests 🙂 You can search on twitter and Instagram for these contests.
I entered the contest for a 5 days trip along Ireland’s Coast, you need to guess how many people will join the contest. Hmmm, I hadn’t the right answer 😀
Update: let’s call it magic, but a couple of weeks after this post I got a phone call. “Do you remember you entered our giveaway?” …. “You’ve won the first price!”. Really?? Yes, I won a cruise with MSC. We will cruise in Juni from Venice to the Greek Islands and Montenegro . Where we will stay for another week. Doesn’t sound like a wonderful plan?

Campervan trips in Europe are so much fun!

Wow, Shere, you amaze me! I had no idea of any of these opportunities. Of course, not all of them appeal to me, but the first one (taking pictures for a company) sounds like my cup of tea. I had no idea they would hire amateurs for this job. I always thought only the National Geographic level would be satisfactory for them. I should look into that. Thanks for sharing this useful information. #TheWeeklyPostcard

I think a professional photographer would ask for a salary. I see more often travel agencies offering a free trip in exchange for free pictures.
I once won a picture competition and got 150€ for a single picture. You can imagine that for a company, it’s cheaper to let you use a campervan/pay for the trip than buying single pictures.

These are great ideas. I really want to try doing a road trip by relocating a car. Thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard.

the only problem with relocating is that you cannot book far in advance. Well, only in USA, when they bring new campervans to the rest of the country. You can and should book it early.

Good tips, I think as well volunteering can be an option, or working au pair abroad.
I will love to hear more about ambassador recruitment, as I am really looking for an experience like that!

You’ve found some creative ways to keep the travel budget low. I know people who have relocated campervans in New Zealand. It is a great way to see the country. I would add a home (and car) exchange to the list of ways to get a free holiday.

I’ll add it!! I have never tried it, but I think it’s also a great way to save costs

I’m always trying to Win a free holiday, no luck yet but I’m still trying.

Some contest is like winning the lottery. I have never won the lottery, but I’ve won twice a travel contest (for both of them, you had to submit a picture/video, so it was based on originality and not on random)

These are some great tips. I’d never thought of the relocating. I’m book marking this for later. Thanks for the travel inspiration! #wkendtravelinspiration

there’re several companies offering relocations. Australia and NZ are the most popular countries to get one.
