OnTheRoad: Milford Sounds, avoiding the tourists

I don’t know which day is today, some days the time flies and other days it seems like we are having a 48h-day. Yesterday and today have been those kind of days. The weather in Queenstown was not that good and the we didn’t find the city very interesting, that’s why we just drove to Te Anau.

As usual we didn’t book our accommodation in advance and when we got to Te Anau (110km/2h from Milford), the weather changed and the sun appeared again. We could have stayed there and have drove the day after to Milford, but as it’s not usual to not to have rain in Milford we decided to take the chance and to continue to Milford.

At the i-site of Te Anau we booked the 9am jucy cruize and the Milford lodge. Sleeping in Milford is wonderful, not only for the views but also because you avoid the massive tourists. When we got there all the buses were gone and of course at 9am they are still on the way. It’s so nice to be in a very touristic place without having to queue behind hundreds of Japanese in order to be able to take a picture.
